To make healthier choices easy we have developed the Low GI recipe logo. This logo is your guarantee that the recipe is certified as a healthier option, has a low GI and a low GL, meets our nutrition criteria around kilojoules, fats, carbohydrates, sodium and where appropriate protein and fibre.
The Low GI recipe logo allows consumers to easily identify low GI and GL recipes that meet International Dietary Guidelines to ensure that they are a healthier choice. Recipes are analysed using FoodWorks 7 and a custom built GI database.
The nutrient criteria were compared with Australian Dietary Guideline recommendations, Nutrient Reference Values, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand’s Food Standards Code, Heart Foundation and Diabetes NSW & ACT and Diabetes Australia recommendations. Extensive scoping and nutritional profiling were also undertaken to develop the criteria for main meals, soups, salads and desserts.
The fee to use the logo is dependent on the number and complexity of the recipes.
